We are proud to share that our colleagues 𝐃𝐫. Shilpa Rao-Skirbekk and 𝐃𝐫. Denyse S. D. members of the healthRiskADAPT consortium, have been selected as chapter lead authors for the 𝐈𝐏𝐂𝐂 𝟕𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 (𝐀𝐑𝟕), 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩 𝐈𝐈 𝐨𝐧 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐬, 𝐀𝐝𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐕𝐮𝐥𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲. Health and transformational adaptation remain key focal points of the healthRiskADAPT project.

Shilpa will be a lead author on 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟗: ‘𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐥-𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠’, where she will focus on 𝐬𝐲𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐛𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐬. Her work emphasizes transformational adaptation and integrating evidence on health outcomes into climate adaptation strategies. “It is an honor to be a lead author for this 7th Assessment Report, working in WG2 on climate adaptation and health. The IPCC provides a non-biased, global knowledge base on climate change, which is more important than ever in these troubled times,” says Shilpa Rao-Skirbekk, Senior Researcher at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (Folkehelseinstituttet).

Denyse, a Research Fellow at the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change & the Environment, and The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), will be a lead author on 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟑: ‘𝐒𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐈𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬’, contributing expertise on barriers and enablers of climate information development and use relevant for small islands.

This recognition highlights the crucial role of Norwegian and international experts in strengthening the global knowledge base on climate adaptation.
