As part of the healthRiskADAPT project, a team from the University of Bern recently installed 20 urban air temperature sensors across the city of Napoli.
Mediterranean cities like Napoli are among the most affected by the combined effect of climate change and urban heat π₯ποΈ, with serious implications for heat-related health risk and mortality. For this reason, we aim to better understand urban air temperatures through actual measurements π.
The sensor locations were selected by the Comune di Napoli to capture a wide range of urban environments across the city πΊοΈ. After some last-minute adjustments, all 20 sensors are now up and running β
.
We are very much looking forward to the measurements collected in the coming months π.
A big thank you to the University of Bern (Charles Pierce, Nils Tinner, Stefan BrΓΆnnimann) π as well as the Comune di Napoli and all partners involved for their support and collaboration π€.
